Promet is a diverse and mostly virtual company.  Outside of our World Head Quarters (WHQ) office in Chicago we have at one point or another folks working with us in three or four continents.  We got the idea from one of the MySQL conferences that we attended to have a global event once a year, where everyone in the company does something similar.  

Promet Host and Prometsource - our drupal CMS development company, are proud to sponsor Drupalcamp Chicago this year.  It is the second year in a row that we are sponsoring this event and we can not wait.

Still reporting from DrupalCon. So far there have been a number of sessions I have attended. Here are some highlights from those sessions on how to increase performance on your drupal site.

• Look at the number of requests a page makes to the server
• Use yslow to measure page rendering (often a page performance is perceived, not just based on the server response time)

• Remove search, use alternate solutions such as Apache Solr or Google Search API
• Use CDN as much as possible
• Use Reverse Proxy Cache and memcache

We were very happy to sponsor Drupalcon*DC 2009.  My favorite session had to be the four kitchens session by David Strauss on Drupal Scalability.  I highly recommend this for anyone contemplating a big roll out.  Here is a little of what this session was about:

Promet Host - A Chicago hosting company whose clients include fortune 50 companies as well as many pure drupal online sites sponsored the 2008 Drupal Camp Chicago. 

We were the only Drupal hosting company sponosring the event.  Kyle Else did a great job organizing the very sucessfull event. 

Promet volunteers manned the Drupal booth at the HostingCon conference at Navy Pier.  The Drupal Open Source Content Management Project was represented by Promet and other volunteers from the Chicago Drupal Meet Up Group.
